The City Attorney’s Office represents the City of Greeley. This encompasses acting as legal advisor to the City Council, civil litigation in district, state and federal courts; furnishing legal opinions to city officials, departments, boards and commissions; preparing, reviewing and approving as to form ordinances, contracts, resolutions and other legal documents and transactions. The City Attorney’s Office is charged with the prosecution of all cases docketed into the municipal court.

• City Attorney is appointed by and reports directly to City Council.
• Provides legal advice and drafting for City Council, all Boards and Commissions and City Departments.
• Prosecutes traffic, criminal, zoning, water, sanitation and animal violations in Municipal Court.
• Protects the City’s legal interest in all litigations.
The City Attorney’s Office is prohibited from providing legal advice to individual citizens.
