The City Attorney’s Office strives to provide the highest quality legal representation to the City of Greeley at the lowest possible cost to the taxpayers; to give sound and objective legal advice to City officials and staff; and to act in accordance with the highest ethical and professional standards.
The City Attorney’s Office represents the City of Greeley and acts as legal advisor to the City Council, other city officials, and the city department, boards, and commissions. More specifically, the City Attorney’s Office:
- Prepares and reviews ordinances, contracts, resolutions, and other legal documents and transactions.
- Protects the City’s legal interests by litigating civil cases in state and federal courts.
- Prosecutes traffic, criminal, zoning, water, sanitation, and animal violations in municipal court.
- Provides legal advice and document drafting for City Council, Boards and Commissions, and City Departments.
