Resolving Conflict
Community Mediation
When people have loud parties, let their dogs bark too much or neglect their property it can really bother their neighbors. If not addressed, resentment can build and result in confrontation, retaliation and/or law enforcement intervention. With the help of a mediator, neighbors can talk through their issues in a neutral, confidential environment. Check out a brochure for more info. We now provide mediation between landlords and tenants, see our guide.
Good Neighbor Ordinance
Many communities have it: that one neighbor with the overgrown lawn, constant police presence, and general unwillingness to get along with everyone else. The City has a new ordinance that subjects nuisance properties like these to stiffer penalties and close monitoring. Call 350-9780 for more info, take a look at some frequently asked questions, or browse the lists of chronic offenders and properties.
For all the details please read Chapter 1.35 (General Provisions) in the Municipal Code.
Neighborhood Conduct Class
In April 2006, City Council voted to instate a harsher penalty for violators of Greeley's noise ordinance. The fine is now $1,000! But violators can get fines reduced by coming to the Neighborhood Conduct Class on the third Tuesday of the month at the Greeley Recreation Center (651 10th Avenue, Room 204). Call 350-9780 to register.
