Community Development
The Community Development Department guides the physical development of the community to meet present and future needs of its citizens in a way that promotes good civic design, convenience, health, safety, efficiency, and economy.
The Community Development Department reviews building permits and land-use requests, answers questions about development, and enforces zoning laws.
The October 27th Planning Commission meeting has been cancelled.

The Community Development Department consists of seven Divisions:
Planning - provides guidance and structure for both present and future development of the city to ensure harmonious community design, as well as land use compatible with environmental and quality-of-life measures.
Engineering Development Review - reviews development plans for continuity with existing City systems and to ensure proposed improvements meet the City of Greeley design criteria.
Building Inspection - ensures building safety and sanitation through the review of building plans and the uniform enforcement of various codes and regulations.
Greeley Urban Renewal Authority - provides services aimed at redesigning and upgrading targeted neighborhoods to improve community image and stability. It also provides assistance in housing to low-income citizens.
Historic Preservation - established by the City Council in 1995. The Commission prepared the City's Historic Preservation Plan to assist citizens of Greeley in understanding and accessing information concerning historic preservation and its impact on the community.
Natural Resources - enforces City codes related to refuse, weeds and inoperable vehicles to signs, building occupancy and landscaping. The division also administers the Farmers' Market, Recycling Centers and the Poudre River Trail Corridor.
Neighborhood Resource Office - addresses problems in neighborhoods through community organizing, communication, conflict resolution, physical improvement and planning/implementation.
City Receives Planning AwardThe Colorado Chapter of the American Planning Association awarded the city of Greeley the highest state planning award for the recently completed John Evans neighborhood study.
The study was done in conjunction with the city of Evans and Greeley's Neighborhood Building Blocks team. One unique aspect of the study was a door-to-door survey conducted by Greeley and Evans police officers.
