Greeley History Museum--Hazel E. Johnson Research Center

The Hazel E. Johnson Research Center provides assistance and various materials for your research on Greeley and Weld County history.
Location: Lower level of the Greeley History Museum.
Hours: The Center is open with full service 8:30am-4:30pm on Wednesday through Friday and 10am-4pm on Saturday.

What to expect when you visit:

  • Use of pencils only
  • Latex-free and cotton gloves (provided) must be worn to view materials
  • Personal scanners and cameras not allowed
  • Bags and coats not allowed at research tables
  • Laptops are permissible. You must provide Wi-Fi connection capabilities

  • Resources indexed by the Weld County Genealogical Society on their Weld County Master Index
  • Weld County historical photograph collections, including early people, places and events of Weld County, Lew Dakan wedding portraits and aerial photographs
  • Regional water history materials
  • Regional railroad materials
  • City of Greeley and Weld county Directories and phonebooks dating from the early 1900s
  • Record books and Minutes of the Union Colony
  • Record books and ledgers of early Greeley and Weld County businesses
  • City of Greeley Scrapbooks and Ordinances
  • Cemetery and burial records
  • Local high school and college annuals
  • Maps and land records
  • Agricultural records
  • Oral history interviews
  • Mewspapers published in Weld County
  • Various Nebraska Territory, Colorado, and Weld County census records from the 1860s-1930s
  • Various Weld County publications, including Panorama and Through the Leaves
  • AT&T Cablevision Channel 8 video footage from 1989 to 2001
  • Rare books, theses, autobiographies, etc. pertaining to Greeley and the northeastern Colorado region

    Most resources are available for reproduction and digitization upon request with a signed Historic Photograph Reproduction Policy.
