Subject: 2013 Children’s Water Festival in Greeley
The Children’s Water Festival in Greeley has been teaching local children about water issues since 1991. The 2013 Children's Water Festival is on April 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Island Grove Park. The event is a collaborative effort between the Central Colorado Water Conservancy District, the City of Greeley, the West Greeley Conservation District and other community partners.
The Children's Water Festival in Greeley is a free event for 4th grade students. The festival brings water professionals from around Colorado to provide presentations and activities about water, conservation, human health, and aquatic life, while covering a wide range of curriculum areas including language arts, math, science, social studies, visual art, and health. The festival goals are to teach students that water is an essential, limited resource and that they can take action. Classes from public and private schools in Weld, Morgan, and Adams Counties were invited to the festival. Over 1,200 students are registered. Schools pre-register in the fall and the event is now full.
