Subject:  Greeley’s 38th Annual Spring Clean-Up Weekend

Greeley’s 38th annual Spring Clean-up Weekend – for Greeley residents only – is scheduled for Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27.  Greeley residents are invited to bring their spring clean-up debris to four locations from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. both days - rain, snow or shine.  Residents may need to visit all four sites depending on the items they have for disposal, recycling or exchange.  Participants must provide proof of Greeley residency (i.e. driver’s license, utility bill).  No commercial dumping is allowed and all loads of loose materials must be secured with a tarp.

Site #1 – Clean-up Site: Clean up your garage, basement, alley, etc., and bring the debris to the drop site at 11th Avenue, north of the Poudre River (enter off of H Street).  A total of 4 tires (up to 17” in diameter) may be included in regular loads per day with no additional fees; however, there will be an additional $2 fee per tire over that limit. Tires over 17" will not be accepted.  Freon will be safely removed from all refrigeration appliances free of charge.

The fee for cars; trucks with less than one-ton capacity; and single axle trailers is $10 per load.  For trailers with more than one axle and one ton trucks and larger, a $30 coupon must be purchased and the load must be taken to the North Weld Landfill (Hwy 14 & WCR 25).  The only exception is if these larger, non-commercial vehicles are hauling only chippable wood, tree limbs, leaves, and acceptable organics – these go to the GROW Center (see Site #2). Coupons are available at the City’s Finance Department located at City Hall, 1000 10th Street, until 5 p.m. on April 26 or at the 11th Avenue site during Clean-up Weekend.  Coupons allow direct admission to the landfill for these larger vehicles and trailers.

Site #2 – Greeley Organic Waste (GROW) Center:  This is the drop site for yard waste such as branches, leaves, grass and clean wood (no paint, stain, etc).  Loads contaminated with treated wood, concrete, metal and other items will be sent to Site #1. Site #2 is located off of East 8th Street, approximately one mile east of U.S. 85 on the south side of 8th Street.  Separate fees from Site #1 apply based on load – Grass and leaves: $3.50/cubic yard; Clean and mixed wood, limbs, brush, sod, topsoil: $4.75/cubic yard.  Pre-paid coupons for large loads are not required.  The GROW Center is open during Clean-up Weekend the same hours as Site #1. In addition, the GROW Center is open year-round:  Summer hours: Monday - Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Sunday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Site #3 – Household Hazardous Waste Collection Site: Household hazardous waste will be accepted at 1311 North 17th Avenue, approximately 2 blocks north of Site #1.  No charge to recycle used motor oil, batteries, antifreeze, paint, pesticides, etc. – please no empty containers.  This site will be open during Clean-up Weekend the same days and hours as sites #1&2.  Free.  The HHW site is open year-round, Tuesdays and Saturdays, 8:00 a.m.– 5:00 pm.

Site #4 – Downtown Recycling Center: Bring your recyclables to the site at 228 11th Avenue (NE corner of 3rd Street and 11th Avenue).  Acceptable items include: Cardboard, paperboard, glass, aluminum and tin, #1 & 2 plastics, junk mail, newspapers, office paper and magazines. The location is open to the public year-round during daylight hours.  Free.
Computers and electronics will NOT be collected during Clean-Up Weekend.
