Subject:  Downtown Greeley to host image campaign kickoff party at first Friday Fest of 2013
On Friday, May 24, downtown Greeley is set to host a community party to help launch an image campaign for the city and its residents.  Greeley, like many communities, is labeled with and identified by old stereotypes and misperceptions.  This campaign features locals who represent some of the most unexpected and interesting aspects of the community—they help represent a whole new way of thinking and talking about the city.
Everyone is invited to the first Friday Fest of the season, May 24 on the 9th Street Plaza from 5:00-10:00 p.m.  The event is free, just like all Friday Fests, which are also Go-Cup events that always include a free outdoor concert and children’s activities.
To help kickoff the campaign, this event will feature performances by the Salida Circus, performance-painting by local muralist Armando Silva—plus displays and giveaways related to the campaign.  This will be the first opportunity for many residents to see the people and images that have been selected to represent the city.  The 2013 campaign will extend over several months and include local and regional advertising.
5:00-10:00 p.m.     Friday Fest/Go-Cup
5:30-8:30 p.m.       Salida Circus performances
7:00-10:00 p.m.    Moses Jones Band (high energy funk)
Greeley Mayor Tom Norton notes, “Greeley has so much to brag about—between our schools, our creative people, our booming economy, our entrepreneurs, our cultural diversity—there’s always plenty to brag about.  The economic opportunities here are incredible.  This event isn’t just for Greeley residents; everyone’s invited to learn more about the city.”
Go-Cup events allow adults to purchase an adult beverage at any of the establishments in the Go-Cup district and carry it onto the plaza for the concert and other activities, as well as between the bars and restaurants.
The Salida Circus performers include stilt walkers, jugglers, balloon artists, contortionists and dancers.
The Friday Fest/Go-Cup concert series runs every Friday from late May through September.  Sponsors include the City of Greeley, Greeley Arts and Entertainment District, Greeley Downtown Development Authority, the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant, High Country Beverage and Svedka.
