Subject: Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps and Flood Insurance Studies for Weld County, CO
These updated maps reflect the most current flood studies for Weld County and will replace the existing Flood Insurance Rate Maps, many of which are from the late 1970s and early 1980s. Homes and businesses in Special Flood Hazard Areas with mortgages from federally regulated or insured lenders are required to have flood insurance. FEMA manages the National Flood Insurance Program, which makes federally-backed flood insurance available to communities. The City of Greeley invites the public to review the preliminary maps and provide comments to Derek Glosson, City of Greeley Floodplain Administrator, at Derek.Glosson@greeleygov.com
by June 28, 2013. The City of Greeley kindly asks that you limit your comments to those maps that are within and near the City of Greeley municipal limits. Map 08123CIND0A – Flood Insurance Rate Map Index provides a list of the maps that pertain to the City of Greeley.
Comments received by June 24, 2013 will be forwarded to FEMA for consideration as they prepare the final Flood Insurance Rate Maps and Flood Insurance Studies for publication. There will be a 90-day appeal period following the initial review of the preliminary maps and studies. Publication of the final Flood Insurance Rate Maps and Flood Insurance Studies is not anticipated until the summer of 2014.
