Subject: Greeley Creative District State Designation Elevated
Colorado Creative Industries has announced that Greeley has been elevated in its designation status from an “Emerging” Creative District to that of “Prospective” Creative District. This designation comes with an award of $5,000 from the State and a chance to match those funds with another $5,000 from the Boettcher Foundation and access in kind professional support to continue Greeley’s work in cultivating and promoting its creative industries. Four other Colorado communities share this designation: Aurora, Colorado Springs Downtown, Longmont and the RiNo District (Denver).
Since establishing its Creative District in January 2012, Greeley has formed a non-profit organization, sponsored several community engagement sessions and convened arts educators, hosted and co-sponsored featured artist presentations, inventoried and tracked the participation and financial impact of the work of Greeley’s arts and creative events and activities, and expanded communication about Greeley’s Creatives.
Work in all those areas will continue and expand in the coming year.
A Greeley Creative District “Sampler” of the work and activities of local Creatives will be featured at the Mirage Productions Studio, 926 8th Avenue with an open house on August 9th from 4-6 p.m. and the exhibition continuing through September 6th.
