SUBJECT: 2013 Community Excellence in Design Award Winners Announced
The City of Greeley will recognize three outstanding development projects at its July 16th City Council meeting. The projects will receive honors as part of the City’s 10th Annual Community Excellence in Design Awards for projects constructed or redeveloped during 2012 that demonstrate exceptional design elements.
“The quality of buildings and their relationship to the community reflect our attitudes about ourselves,“ commented Brad Mueller, Director of the Community Development Department at the City. “Excellent design has the ability to both lift our spirits and improve a business’ bottom line, so we celebrate those who make a commitment to high quality construction.”
The community award is the product of Greeley’s Comprehensive Plan, which calls for stronger building design to promote unique and creative structures throughout the community. A panel of community judges evaluated the nominations for their creativity in design, attention to detail and ability to provide a distinctive structure for the purpose it was intended and in a manner that typifies or exceeds community design expectations.
The honored projects were selected by a community panel of judges. The three winners of this year’s Community Excellence in Design Awards are:
• Weld County Fallen Officer Memorial – Public Spaces
• My Energy – Commercial Redevelopment
• Mike Deutcher State Farm – Commercial Adaptive Re-Use
The award winners and their projects may be viewed at the City of Greeley website, www.greeleygov.com/Community
Development, and project information and display materials may be viewed at the City of Greeley, City Hall at 1000 10th Street. For more information please call 350-9780.
