Subject: Vaccinate Your Pets, Don’t Approach Wildlife
Yet another skunk found in Greeley has tested positive for rabies, and police want to remind residents not to approach wildlife, especially if the animal is acting strangely or is out and about at a time they are not normally active. Skunks are normally night time creatures, so if seen in the daytime, avoid contact and keeps pets away.
With the resurgence of rabies in the Northern Colorado area, responsible pet ownership is imperative. Keep your pets contained and make sure they are up to date on their vaccinations.
Animal Control Officers are strictly enforcing ordinances related to pet animals.
While Animal Control Officers usually deal with only pet animal issues, if you believe an animal is rabid, either a pet or wild, please contact dispatch at 350-9600, or 911 if it is an emergency.
