GREELEY KIDS TRIATHLON AT THE FUNPLEX SATURDAY
The City of Greeley’s Culture, Parks, and Recreation Department will be hosting the Greeley Kids Triathlon on Saturday, August 10 beginning at 8am at the Family FunPlex, located at 1501 65th Avenue. The event is for youth ages 6-12 years, there will even be a ‘mini triathlon’ for kids 5 and under. There’s still time to sign up for the event, participants can even register the day of if they sign up before 7:45am.
The event is being organized by local triathlete, Cindy Dallow. This is another race opportunity for area kids to participate in with age-appropriate distances to compete in a swim/bike/run event. The emphasis for these programs is to focus on fitness, fun and safety. Those kids in the 5 and under age bracket will compete in a 25-yard assisted swim, 100-yard bike ride, and 50-yard run. Youth in the 6-8 age group will do a 50-yard swim, 2-mile bike ride and 3/4-mile run; age 9-10 years compete in a 100-yard swim, 3-mile bike, 1-mile run; 11-12 year olds will do a 200-yard swim, 3-mile bike and 1-mile run. Participants will compete in the swim portion first, progress to the bike, and then finish with the run.
Pre-Registration is $20 and ends on Friday, August 9. Race day registration is $25 and ends at 7:45am. Details about the event and what to wear and bring are available online at http://greeleygov.com/Recreation/SpecialEvents.aspx
