VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED FOR YOUTH SPORTS
The City of Greeley’s Culture, Parks, and Recreation Department is in need of volunteer coaches for upcoming fall sports. Registration is going on now for the following programs: Young America Soccer; Middle School Sports: Football, Volleyball and Boys Basketball and coaches are needed for all of these programs.
These recreational sports programs rely heavily on volunteer coaches to help teach players the skills necessary to compete – without an adequate number of coaches, many youth will not be able to play. These volunteer positions are a necessary part of the program and provide positive role models and mentoring to these young players. Most sports begin practices this month or in September and run through October or November. Many meet twice a week to practice and host games on Saturdays at various locations. Volunteer coaches receive general information on the sport, player rosters, practice times and locations, game and picture schedules, as well as a gift certificate at the end of the program. All coaches are required to go through a background check and concussion training prior to the beginning of practice.
If you’re interested in being involved and providing this needed service to the Greeley community, contact the Greeley Recreation Center at 350.9400 or the Family FunPlex at 350.9401 for more information. The front desk staff at both locations will put patrons in touch with the program supervisors associated with the sport you are seeking to coach. And remember…Volunteer Coaches are the backbone of youth sports in America…your support just may be the foundation that develops a youth’s love for the game.
