Subject: Greeley Sensitive Household Material Disposal Opportunities Offered
Residents are urged to take advantage of several free sites at which to safely dispose of sensitive and dangerous household materials on Saturday, October 26th. The City of Greeley is teaming up with UNC, the City of Evans, and Weld County to provide sites for drop off of unused or expired medications, document shredding, and disposal of hazardous household materials. Fostering safe and well-kept neighborhoods is a high priority, as is keeping this sensitive material out of Greeley’s water and area waste streams. Also on this Saturday, which marks the Community Day of Caring, UNC students will be out in the University District Neighborhood helping residents in need of support with leave raking and yard care.
The community disposal sites include the following:
• Prescription Drug Drop off: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., at three sites – Greeley Police Headquarters (2875 10th St.); UNC University Center (2045 10th Ave.); and Sam’s Club (Evans, 3247 23rd Ave.). Drop off unused or expired medications (no needles or sharps, mercury, oxygen containers, chemotherapy/radioactive substances, pressurized canisters or illicit drugs can be accepted)
• Document shredding service: available at the Greeley Police Headquarters site from
10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; UNC site from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. courtesy of Express Shredding Solutions/Schaefer Enterprises (all document types accepted).
• Household Hazardous Materials: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., turn in batteries solvents, paints, pesticides and similar materials at the Weld County Household Waste site at
1311 N. 17th Ave.
