Subject: THE GREELEY CHORALE CULMINATES THE HOLIDAYS WITH DECEMBER 21 CONCERT
The internationally renowned Greeley Chorale presents “Handel’s Holiday Hits & Festive Favorites” on the Monfort Concert Hall stage at the Union Colony Civic Center in Greeley on Saturday, December 21, at 7:30 p.m.
“I realize this concert is bumping right up to Christmas, but I want to invite everyone to join us, relax from the rigors of the holidays, and enjoy some traditional holiday music,” said Chorale Artistic Director Dr. Galen Darrough. “In fact, we’re giving people a chance to join us in singing two of the best-known choruses in Messiah: “And the glory of the Lord” and “Hallelujah.” Whether you sound like a bullfrog or sing like an angel, you’re invited to raise your voice as we celebrate one of the world’s most-loved choral works.”
While the entire Christmas portion of Messiah will not be presented, this concert includes the solos and choruses most familiar to audiences around the world. Soloists for Messiah are Michael Foerster, tenor; Dr. Jacquie Bowen, mezzo-soprano; and Briana Sibley, soprano.
“However, Messiah is only the first half of our concert,” explained Heather Garwood, Chorale administrator. “Our second half features songs that are time-honored holiday favorites, from “Silent Night” to “Jingle Bells!” Dr. Dale Edwards, Professor of Journalism and Mass Communications at UNC, wrote, and will conduct, the arrangement the Chorale will sing for “Silent Night.” Also in the concert are two solos, “Cantique de Noel (O Holy Night),” sung by Heather Dennis, mezzo-soprano; and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” sung by Barbara Brackett, soprano.
“Handel’s Holiday Hits & Festive Favorites” is produced in cooperation with the Union Colony Civic Center, and sponsored by Banner Health/North Colorado Medical Center. For this concert only, patrons may obtain a free student ticket with every paid adult ticket purchased.
