Subject: Special Creative District Community Gathering Set
The Greeley Creative District kicks off the year with a gathering full of information and a special way to experience the contributions of area Creatives that is free and open to the public. The Creatives Event takes place at the Downtown Greeley Ice Haus at 900 8th Ave. on Wednesday, January 15th starting at 5:30 p.m. with a networking reception for area artists and community members who will hear about:
- Local art events and exhibitions on tap
- An invitation to be part of an Art-related Guinness World Record attempt
- High School Student Art Award competition
- A new MUSE program for aspiring student artists
- Presentation of an emerging Creative District Way-finding system
The District reception will be capped off with an exceptional demonstration of ice carving by acclaimed artist Chef Michael Pizzuto, who has represented the United States in international competitions and has carved Denver Zoo ice sculptures.
The carving will take place in the outside plaza starting at about 6:15 p.m., made comfortable for the public with outdoor heaters and lighting. Chef Pizzuto will be carving a horse figure to reflect the Chinese New Year that commences at the end of the month.
In keeping with Chinese tradition those attending the event will be offered a red envelope symbolizing good fortune and with a card to wish positive thoughts for another in the coming year. Football fans may want to stop by to see the Ice Horse and wish the Broncos a Super Bowl win, something that has not occurred since the team moved its Summer Training Camp from Greeley! Attendees are encouraged to bring cameras to capture the ice sculpture since it is a temporary art piece.
