2014 Free History Brown Bag Series about Greeley History

Subject:  2014 Free History Brown Bag Series about Greeley History
The Greeley Historic Preservation Commission announces the free 2014 History Brown Bag Series held on the 4th Thursday of each month from January through October, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., at the Greeley History Museum, 714 8th Street.  The first Brown Bag will be on Thursday, January 23rd, at which local authors and historians Gabe and Jody Lopez will speak about the Spanish Colony.  Great Western Sugar Company built Greeley’s Spanish Colony in 1924 for Hispanic beet workers.  It was one of over 100 colonies the sugar beet industry constructed for beet workers.  Participants are encouraged to bring a sack lunch.
This series provides citizens the chance to hear interesting historical topics, primarily focused on Greeley and Weld County, and promotes local cultural heritage.
