Subject:  Greeley Police Make Arrests in Two Recent Crime Sprees

Two men have been arrested in conjunction with three recent auto thefts, an armed robbery, and a fraud.  Robert Drake, 031279, and Bobby Ray Denton, 051677, were arrested by members of the police department’s Special Enforcement Team (SET) and Property Crimes Unit.

The first auto theft was reported on January 20th, at approximately 6:45 a.m.  Approximately 30 minutes later, the above reported stolen vehicle was used in an armed robbery at 2544 11th Ave, the Sinclair gas station.  The two are also being charged with stealing two other vehicles; one on the 23rd and another on the 24th.  A debit card was left in one of the vehicles and this card was used on Jan 24th to make fraudulent purchases at a local business.

At the time of the arrest Drake and Denton were observed in one of the stolen vehicles by a SET member in the 500 block of 16th Street near where the first vehicle was stolen.  Both men were apprehended after a short foot pursuit.  Drake is facing 3 counts of Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, Aggravated Robbery, Menacing, Eluding an Officer, Identity Theft, and 4 Counts of Theft.  Denton is facing 2 counts of Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, Menacing, Aggravated Robbery and Theft.  They are currently being held at the Weld County Jail.

In a second crime unrelated spree, two juvenile males have been charged with seven commercial burglaries which were reported between December 29th and 31st, 2013.  These businesses were within just a few blocks of each other, and it appears they were all committed at the same time, but discovered by the business owners on different dates.  The total of damages to the business is in excess of $4000.00 and the loss from thefts exceeds $1600.00.   Each juvenile is facing charges of 8 counts of Second Degree Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Theft.
