VALUES

The employees of the Greeley Police Department believe in and support the following values:

·  Leadership.  We will lead by example and serve as role models to the community in choosing to do the right thing for the right reason.

·  Service.  We accept the obligation to serve our community ahead of our own convenience or comfort.

·  Integrity.  We will scrupulously adhere to the laws of the land, the ethics of our chosen profession and the moral standards of our community.

·  Honor.  We are proud of our profession and pledge to do nothing to bring dishonor to our community or our organization.

·  Courage.  We recognize that making the difficult or unpopular but right choice takes as much personal courage as pursuing an armed offender.  We accept the responsibility to do both.

·  Loyalty.  We recognize and accept the obligation to serve our community selflessly for as long as we hold our position.

·  Empathy.  While we will always take enforcement action where necessary, we accept the responsibility to empathize with others and protect the rights of all.

·  Sacrifice.  We recognize and accept that we sometimes must give up benefits for ourselves in order to serve others.

·  Truthfulness.  We value truth for truth’s sake and will not tolerate liars among us.

·  Courtesy.  We will always treat others in the way in which we would wish to be treated ourselves.  It will be our goal to find a way to help.

Announcement Regarding Grant Application

The Greeley Police Department is in the process of applying for a Federal Grant, administered through the Department of Justice.  The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) is intended to further the Department of Justice’s mission to assist state and local jurisdictions to prevent or reduce violence and crime.

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) grant funds can be used for a wide variety of purposes including state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, and information systems for criminal justice.  Several restrictions apply to justice assistance grant funds.

The 2010 grant application will include funding requests for the Greeley Police Department and the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.  Funds have been designated for both agencies based on population and the number of Part I violent crime data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Uniform Crime Reports.

If you have any commentary regarding the 2010 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program application process, please contact Captain Juan Cruz of the Greeley Police Department at 350-9663 or at juan.cruz@greeleypd.com prior to June 20, 2010.
