2009 Grant
The Greeley Police Department is in the process of applying for a Federal Grant, administered through the Department of Justice. The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) is intended to further the Department of Justice’s mission to assist state and local jurisdictions to prevent or reduce violence and crime.
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) grant funds can be used for a wide variety of purposes including state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, and information systems for criminal justice. Several restrictions apply to justice assistance grant funds.
The 2009 grant application will include funding requests for the Greeley Police Department and the Weld County Sheriff’s Office. Funds have been designated for both agencies based on population and the number of Part I violent crime data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Uniform Crime Reports.
