The Greeley Art Commission is accepting proposals from artists to present their vision of a mural(s) to be incorporated into the UNC/Downtown Corridor as described in the City of Greeley Art Master Plan.
The committee is seeking artists to create murals and wall art on preexisting city walls with art that acknowledges the diversity of our community. These walls make great canvasses and can certainly enhance Greeley with a broad range of social, cultural and historic values. The committee will place high importance on the artistic design, craftsmanship, quality of materials, and how it reflects our community." All murals must have an anti graffiti coating for maintenance purposes. Artwork may not be a form of signage or advertisement in any way.
Proposals will be previewed by a selection committee. Proposals that meet the initial criteria will be submitted to the Greeley Art Commission and City of Greeley Staff for final approval. Artists will be notified of the final approval meeting time and date. It would be in the best interest of the Artist to attend the meeting to address any further questions or concerns.

Written in Water
Ever since they founded the Union Colony in 1870 as an agricultural utopia, the citizens of Greeley have been fascinated by the transforming effects of water. Beginning with the colossal efforts to bring trans-mountain water to the region and the irrigation of a semi-arid environment, the community has prospered and diversified over the years, changing from a treeless prairie to Tree City, USA.
The passion for water, the complexity of the issues and the hope for a bright future are all captured in this 26-minute film featuring the wisdom of WD Farr and poetry by Justice Greg Hobbs.
The video was created as a City of Greeley, 1% for Art project . Greeley's 1% for Art program, approved in 1998, established a modest but deliberate mechanism to assure that significant public projects continue to invigorate the cultural identity of the community. One percent of all the City's capital improvements costs for projects over $50,000 are dedicated to the expenditure of artistic design in the project composition or for artwork acquisition.
