Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) This Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) program provides annual grants to cities and counties to develop decent housing, suitable living environments and economic opportunities for those with generally lower incomes.  The City may also carry out activities which help prevent or eliminate slums or blight or address serious and immediate threats to the health or welfare of the community.  Applications are available June 1st in the year prior to the grant funds being available and must be submitted by August 1st.

CDBG Recovery Funds As part of President Obama’s recovery programs, the City is eligible for additional CDBG funds ($231,514). The project recommended by the GURA Board of Commissioners is the reconstruction of 13th Street from Highway 85 Bypass to 1st Avenue. Public comment on the project was accepted until June 3, 2009 and the application for funds in the form of a CDBG-R Substantial Amendment to the 2009 Action Plan was submitted to HUD on June 4, 2009.  Funds have not yet been awarded.

HOME Investment Partnership Program A HUD grant of approximately $500,000 only used for low-income housing.  Staff monitors for income qualification and rent affordability in projects like Fox Run Apartments (for persons with disabilities), Stephens Farm (for persons with acquired brain injuries), and Camfield Corner (rent-restricted).  Download more program info and an application.
