Greeley Volunteer Opportunities

Greeley Active Adult Center is committed to providing a variety of opportunities that encourage active lifestyles. Adults aged 50 and above can socialize at the center, whether through trips or while participating in one of the many programs (clubs, sports, and games to name a few). Volunteers can assist with the programs and provide support at the front desk.

Volunteers help to provide fun therapeutic recreation programs and services to individuals in the community who have physical or intellectual disabilities. Volunteer as a group and help out with our special events or as an individual and help with our weekly programs!

Boards and Commissions are groups of citizen volunteers that study special community issues and provide direction, comment and recommendations to the City Council. These 24 groups are the voice of the community; they influence public policy and programming decisions that can affect the entire city.

Linn Grove Cemetery uses volunteers for a variety of facility maintenance and occasionally for office management. This might include raking leaves, fixing fencing, repairing and cleaning gravesites, and helping staff with a variety of activities. Volunteer at Linn Grove to enjoy our beautiful and historic cemetery.

Our museums offer many different opportunities for those who want to volunteer. A multitude of interests and skills can be showcased at one of our four sites, either behind the scenes or working with the public. Volunteers can research, catalog and preserve artifacts, participate in demonstrations at Centennial Village, or design, build and maintain exhibits. Serve your community while exploring the past and learning new skills.

NAT Photographer – Do you have an interest and talent for photographing the natural world, and don’t mind sharing your images with Natural Areas & Trails? We are looking for a few amateur (or professional) photographers to capture the beauty of your Natural Areas to help us build up our photographic inventory for outreach and education efforts. We also need help labeling, categorizing, and archiving new and existing photos. Hours and commitment length are flexible.

Poudre River Trail Corridor, Inc. is a non-profit organization that relies heavily on the hard work and generosity of volunteers.

21 miles of pavement, grasses, native plants and trees takes a great deal of effort to maintain. In addition, we have special events where we need volunteers to help promote, organize, and fill event positions.

Join us and help to run our special events, monitor trails, and explore the beautiful Poudre Trail while you volunteer!

At the Rodarte Community Center we encourage youth to grow into responsible adults by participating in positive activities after school and during the summer months. Volunteers are needed to assist with our after school tutoring program, our Fun in the Sun summer program, and more!

Located just north of the University of Northern Colorado campus in Greeley, Glenmere Park Urban Wildlife Sanctuary is a mecca for Weld County residents and wildlife alike. Glenmere offers a serene nature setting within an urban neighborhood, frequently attracting many bird species, as well as animals both large and small, who enjoy the safe haven the park provides.

What You'll Do

Spend a Fall day in this beautiful area adjacent to Glenmere Park as we work to build a new, natural-surface trail for all to enjoy. You'll work along a fairly flat section to help establish the trail tread itself, install drainage structures to prevent erosion and preserve the long-term integrity of the trail, and possibly work on maintaining some nearby trails. This project is a great way to get outside and discover a new recreational area along the Front Range!

Why It Matters

Residents and visitors can enjoy numerous paved trails around Greeley, but there are few natural-surface options available. These trails are in high demand: a user-created "social trail" has already developed in the area. By formalizing that route, you'll help create a more sustainable trail and open up recreational opportunities for hikers, walkers, and joggers.

Volunteers also get free tickets to the event they volunteer for!

This volunteer group provides 24-hours, seven days a week assistance to victims of violent crime and survivors of sudden death. On-call volunteers respond to crime scenes at the request of emergency responders and assist victims/survivors. You must be 19 years old and pass a background check to volunteer.

The City of Greeley has received a grant from Xcel Energy Foundation, awarded through the Colorado Tree Coalition to improve wildlife habitat in Fox Run Natural Area. The nearly 17-acre site spans an area between 60^th and 65^th Avenues near 16^th Street. The site is primarily wetlands and includes the Fox Run Trail with a covered bridge over the wetlands.

You will help plant a variety of native trees, shrubs and perennials that will provide food, shelter and nesting sites for local wildlife such as red fox, coyote, pheasant, raptors, many species of songbirds, pollinators, and other animals that use this area. The addition of these plants will also improve the visual qualities of Fox Run Natural Area.

The project will take place on Saturday, September 12^th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can sign up for either the morning or afternoon shift or the whole day. If you are interested in volunteering for this project, please contact Beth Ray, Volunteer for Outdoor Colorado’s Volunteer and Partnership Coordinator for Weld County. The project will follow adopted COVID-19 guidelines. Beth will provide detailed information when you register.

Youth Sports Programs develop the physical, psychological and social aspects for youth. Our programs emphasize participation, fun, sportsmanship and promote a non-competitive, recreational approach to sports. We are always looking for assistance in youth sports.
