The City of Greeley Parks Division recently received a 2017 Columbine Award in Best Renovated Facility Design from the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) for its work on Aven’s Village. The Columbine Award recognizes best practices throughout the state in design, innovation and programming and only one award is given within four categories.
Parks Planner Sarah Boyd accepted the award on behalf of the Parks Division during CPRA’s annual conference on Thursday, October 5. Although Greeley has won Columbine Award’s in the past, this is the city’s first recognition for Best Renovated Facility Design.
Aven’s Village, which opened in 2016, is located in Island Grove Regional Park. The playground also received a 2017 Starburst Award for excellence in use of state lottery funds, awarded July 31.
