Greeley Recreation Kicks off Park and Recreation Month with Family Fun

Wibit-AquaTrack

This month-long celebration highlights essential value of local parks and recreation.

Since 1985, America has celebrated July as Park and Recreation month. A program of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), the goal is to raise awareness of the vital impact that parks, recreation and conservation have on communities across the United States.

Greeley Recreation will celebrate Park and Recreation Month through a variety of programs in July like the Wibit AquaTrack at Centennial Pool, their new inflatable obstacle course, Tuesday and Thursday nights July 3 through 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.; Dunk ‘till Dusk at Discovery Bay Waterpark Fridays, July 6 through 20 from noon to 8 p.m.; as well as their “Swim In” Theater on Thursday, July 26 from 8 through 10 p.m. – this year their showing The Incredibles (PG). Not to mention the Summer Concert Series at the Family FunPlex where you can enjoy some free local entertainment Thursday nights at 7pm at the amphitheater. Bring a blanket, picnic dinner and enjoy some time with family and friends. See the full entertainment line-up at FamilyFunPlex.com. There’s also Neighborhood Nights for great free movies and family fun at local parks beginning July 6 and Arts Picnic at Lincoln Park July 28 and 29 greeleygov.com/activities/festivals). Find out more at GreeleyRec.com – click on the calendar or view the Recreation Connection magazine online for details.

Be sure to stop by the Island Grove Splash Park during the Greeley Stampede to cool off. Or take a dip at Centennial Pool or Discovery Bay Waterpark on Independence Day – a great way to celebrate! Please note that the following facilities will be closed for the July 4th holiday: Greeley Recreation Center (651 10th Ave – restrooms open during the parade only), Greeley Ice Haus (900 8th Ave), Rodarte Community Center (920 A St), Family FunPlex (1501 65th Ave) and the Greeley Active Adult Center (1010 6th St).

This July, Greeley Recreation and the National Recreation and Park Association are celebrating A Lifetime of Discovery. Explore the ‘undiscovered’ roles of local parks and recreation with a variety of fun activities planned for residents of all ages and abilities.
