Greeley Water Conservation Offers Free Landscape Lectures

Greeley’s Water Conservation program is once again offering its popular Landscape Lecture Series. The goal of the workshops is to promote sustainable landscape practices in the community. Each event is scheduled on the last Wednesday of the month beginning at 6 p.m. The location for all events is the Family FunPlex, 1501 65th Avenue.

July 26: Summer and Late Season Weed Control
Learn the basics of weed control. Come and hear what you can do now to eliminate weeds in your lawn and garden.  This program presented by Tina Booton, Weld County Weed Division Supervisor. 

August 30: Rain Barrel 101 Workshop
Since last August, the State of Colorado allows homeowners to collect rainwater with rain barrels. Come learn about the rules and regulations. Find out how to do it right so you do not encourage mosquitos or other problems. This program presented by Tyler Dell from Colorado State University.

September 27: Compost: How and How Not
This class will explain the art and science of composting. How to get started, tools that are essential and various bins and piles. We can trouble shoot problems you have had in the past or now and how to solve them. We will also have handouts of simple bins to build and ways to do it on a budget.
