We continuously accept applications for the position of Police Officer and Police Cadet* in conjunction with the Fall and Spring recruitment periods.
*A cadet is a non-certified employee who is selected to attend Red Rocks Police Academy. Cadets must sign an agreement to reimburse the Police Department if they leave employment prior to 2 years of service.

Applicants are required to complete the following:
Watch an EFT demonstration
Officer: (POST Certified) $57,226/yr
Cadet: (Non-POST Certified) $20.58/hr through academy.
Cadets are eligible for promotion to Officer after completing 4 month academy and passing POST test.
Perform individually and as member of a team and participate in the following activities: enforce local, state and federal ordinances, regulations and laws; apprehend suspects; respond to and investigate disturbances and accident calls; patrol and conduct surveillance; receive training and maintain skills proficiency; operate a vehicle during routine and emergency situations; communicate with the public in normal and adverse situations; complete verbal and written reports and documentation; work independently following written and verbal instructions that are general in nature. Must be able to work shifts, weekends and holidays.
A candidate who is not selected may re-apply and retest at any subsequent hiring process provided they have not been disqualified by the Civil Service Commission in writing.
Employees must comply with the Department's Personal Appearance Policy including restrictions on tattoos and body piercings. Please read the policy prior to submitting an application.

Pay up to $67,123 is available for experienced officers dependent upon years of experience and department size. Read the Lateral Entry Pay policy and submit an application for Lateral Entry prior to a conditional job offer as applications for Lateral Entry will not be considered after the conditional job offer has been extended.
