Payments and Collections

Paying traffic and criminal tickets

You may be eligible to pay your ticket without coming to court. This may lessen points against your driving record and reduce costs  Look for the "Penalty Assessment" explanation outlined on your citation for eligibility.

If your citation is marked as a "Summons Only" or has no dollar amount listed:

You must appear in the Municipal Court on your arraignment date.The instructions on your ticket will instruct you to appear in court at a specific date and time.  You are NOT eligible to pay online and you are NOT able to avoid coming to court on your court date.

Pay your citation(s) in advance of your arraignment date and avoid coming to court: 

  • Online: www.citepayusa.com. Case number or citation number required for payment. (CitePayUSA will assess transaction fees for this service.)
  • In person: Municipal Court office between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday; or 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday. 
  • Mail payment and citation(s) to:

    (The court is not responsible for mail delays)

If your payment is not received before your court date a bench warrant may be issued for your arrest; additional fees may be assessed; and/or the DMV may suspend your license.

Paying parking tickets

Fines are due within 30 calendar days from the violation. After 30 days a late letter is mailed and fine amounts are increased. After 45 days tickets are turned over to a professional collection agency, and a collection fee is added.

Lost your ticket?

Call us at 970-350-9230 with the license plate number of the vehicle the ticket was placed on and we can tell you the amount due.

Appealing a parking ticket

Complete a parking ticket appeal. You will receive a response from the City Attorney's office with the outcome of your appeal. Court staff cannot negotiate parking tickets.

Collections

Court fines and penalties are due the day of court. Court staff is responsible for collecting and receipting all court fines and penalties.

If you are unable to pay in full on that day of court, payment arrangements may be possible.  The fee for payment arrangements ranges from $25 to $50. It is important that you make payments on time or appear in Court on that date. Failing to do so can result in the following:

  • A Bench Warrant issued for your arrest
  • An Outstanding Judgment hold placed on your license
  • Notification of a professional collection agency

Warrants are processed automatically every evening with no exceptions.
