Poudre Ponds Fishing is Fun Grant Application

The site located at 35th avenue and the Poudre River has been identified as an opportunity for the Parks Department to partner with the Water Department in an effort to bring a unique Fishing opportunity to the citizens of Greeley.

The Parks Department has already been awarded a grant by the Northern Colorado Society of Civil Engineers.  This grant will provide the project with design and construction drawings so that the project can become a reality.  We are thankful to them for choosing our project for their 2007 community service project.  Founded in 1852, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) represents more than 140,000 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide, and is America 's oldest national engineering society. ASCE's vision is to position engineers as global leaders building a better quality of life. The Northern Colorado Branch of ASCE was formed in 1998 and has a current membership of over 450 engineering students, engineers in-training, and professional engineers.  The Northern Colorado Branch has committed its resources to making a positive impact to our immediate surroundings by donating the expertise of our volunteers.  The Northern Colorado Branch of ASCE has selected the Greeley Fish Ponds as a way to show the public what civil engineers do and provide our services to a project that will benefit the community.  A multi-disciplinary team of civil engineers is formed to help move the selected project from the conceptual level through the final construction drawings.

FISHING IS FUN GRANT AWARDED!  The Poudre Ponds project has been awarded $200,000.00 from the Division of Wildlife for the development of an 80 acre site dedicated to angling access.  This was the largest award for this grant cycle!  Now the project moves on for approval from US Fish and Wildlife.  This Project is still in need of monetary and voluntary support as we were not awarded the entire grant request of $285,000.00.  Please contact Sarah Boyd (970) 336-4180 if you would like to pledge support for the project.

Kiwanis Park Renovation

Swanson-Kiwanis Park

The Kiwanis Park Renovation is complete!  May 10th marked the rededication of the park with an ice cream social sponsored by the Kiwanis Club.  We would like to thank all of those who worked hard to make this project a success!  Park staff worked many long hours, excel energy improved the lighting, Landmark Landscapes donated additional landscape materials and grant funding from CDBG and CPRA helped fund the project!  Please take some time to stroll the park and take in its new look.

Fritz and Marjorie Ramseier Farm Park

The park is currently under construction!  We expect grading and concrete work to be complete early July.  At that time we will head into landscaping and installation of the site amenities!  Look for the park to open in spring of 2009!

Franklin and Broadview Park

The irrigation systems in these two parks are over 30 years old!  They have become inefficient and we can no longer find parts for maintenance.  As a result both parks will be receiving new systems throughout!  This project is funded by Food Tax dollars and is expected to be complete by summer 2008.
