Our Water Conservation program is one of the largest and most successful in Colorado. Between 1990 and 2007, universal metering and other conservation programs dropped water demand by more than 20 percent in Greeley. The Conservation Plan estimates an additional eight percent reduction in water use over the next 20 years.
Ongoing work to repair a leaking water line at 20th Street and 59th Avenue will require continuing partial lane closures at that intersection through Friday.
Since Monday, Greeley Water & Sewer Department staff have worked to repair a leak and perform preventative maintenance on a 24-inch water line located in the intersection. During the work, westbound 20th Street and northbound 59th Avenue traffic lanes have partially closed around the northeast corner of the intersection.
Staff will continue repairs and tentatively plan to reopen the road by the end of Friday.
These sorts of closures are necessary to ensure the integrity of the city’s water infrastructure and the safety of the workers performing the repairs.
