Upcoming Xeriscape Events


Learn more about low water landscaping all summer long. Each month, Ruth Quade, Greeley’s Water Conservation coordinator will present the Landscaping for the 21st Century series in a partnership with the High Plains Library District. In addition, the Greeley Garden Tour in June will feature some of the best gardens in the community, including Greeley’s Xeriscape Garden at 2503 Reservoir Road.

Lawn Installation Workshop
May 22
6:30 p.m.
Farr Regional Library, 1939 61st Avenue

The presentation will cover making initial decisions on your new lawn, choosing a turf grass that fits your needs, seed verses sod and design considerations. Also featured will be how to install the lawn for maximum success and minimal water.  The final segment of the presentation will be on how to properly water and maintain your new grass.

Greeley Garden Tour
June 22
8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The self-guided tour stops at several outstanding gardens around Greeley. The tour highlights some of the best gardens in the area and provides ideas for people to integrate into their own landscapes. Garden tour volunteers and property owners will be at each stop to guide visitors through each incredible garden.

The City of Greeley Water Conservation Program is a sponsor of this event. One of the gardens on the tour is Greeley’s Xeriscape Garden at 2503 Reservoir Road.

Landscaping and Design Workshop

Looking to do some landscaping this year and don't know what to do? This presentation will give you step by step plans, answer whether you need a sprinkler system, briefly touch on Xeriscape principles and help you start a plan. Feel free to bring your drawings, photos and questions.

Composting Workshop

Colorado soils are alkaline and lack organic materials. Before you spend a ton of money on artificial products for your landscape, find out about composting, its use in the garden, how to make it, and how to contain it in a system.
