What’s Great About Greeley: September 2020

With these announcements, we are appreciating the good work of our residents, showing support for their efforts, and encouraging everyone to share the word that Greeley is Great.

City of Greeley aterNow and WaterSMART Assistance
PH09The City of Greeley has been chosen for two opportunities that will strengthen and enhance water efficiency efforts. First, they received the WaterNow Summer 2020 Project Accelerator which provides resources in developing metrics and performance analysis strategies. Secondly, they received the US Bureau of Reclamation: WaterSMART Water and Energy Efficiency Grant. It provides $1.4 million in funding to install advanced metering infrastructure in our community. The new system makes leak detection easier and is expected to result in annual water savings of 367 million gallons.

City of Greeley – Traffic Services 2020 APWA Operation/Maintenance Award

Congratulations to Leroy, Art, AJ, Joel, Chris, Mario and Mani of the City’s Traffic Services division for winning the 2020 American Public Works Association Colorado’s Operation/Maintenance Achievement Award. The award recognizes their work for the Traffic Systems Operational Upgrade project.

Professional Finance Co. Inc. 2020 Best Place to Work

Professional Finance Co. Inc. of Greeley, has been recognized by insideARM as the nation’s 2020 Best Place to Work in Collections. The award is the ninth time since 2008 and the sixth consecutive year PFC has earned recognition as one of the best places to work in the accounts receivable management industry.

Greeley West Students Achieve International Baccalaureate Diploma
Three Greeley West High School graduates have earned the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma, gaining at least 24 college credits that can be applied to the colleges and universities they are attending.  The IB Diploma program is a student’s first year of undergraduate college spread out over their junior and senior year of high school.  In addition to staying on top of their studies, students also have to be mindful citizens and complete 250 hours of Creativity, Activity, and Service hours.  

Aims Community College Awarded $2.6 Million for TRIO Programs

Aims Community College has been awarded a five-year $2.6 million federal grant to continue funding TRIO Student Support Services programs for students who are first-generation, from a background with limited income, or who have a documented disability. The goal of TRIO is to increase college retention, transfer and graduation rates.

Greeley West graduate Caeley Lordemann who has signed to play professional soccer for Santa Teresa in Spain. 

High Plains Library District  2020 ABOS Rising Stars Award

Rick Medrano, Outreach Librarian at High Plains Library District, is one of the three recipients of the 2020 Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services Rising Stars Award. The Rising Stars Award highlights the achievements of those new to the bookmobile and outreach profession. Rick has served as Outreach Librarian in the Mobile Outreach Virtual Experience Department for the past 3 years.
