Island Grove Trailhead (COMPLETED LATE 2021)
Funded by Quality of Life tax funds, the Island Grove trailhead serves as a starting and stopping point at the current eastern reach of the regional Poudre River trail. The trailhead featureS a 30-car parking lot, ADA parking, restroom facilities, bike repair station, and public art. An informational sign will be installed at the new kiosk in mid-2022.
McCloskey Natural Area Trailhead
Funded primarily by a State Trails grant from Colorado Parks & Wildlife, improvements to the McCloskey trailhead were completed in 2019 and 2020 including a port-a-let structure, seating and tables. Remaining improvements are scheduled to be installed in early summer 2022.
83rd Ave. Section - Sheep Draw Trail
A date has not been finalized for constructing the section of the Sheep Draw Trail under the 83rd Avenue bridge. This project has been in the planning and permitting stages for several years, and with final floodplain permitting completed the project is ready to begin. This project will complete the final missing link for the Sheep Draw Trail, and will connect existing trail sections at the Boomerang Ranch and Mountain Shadows neighborhoods. Some trail closures in the vicinity of this project may occur during construction.
Signature Bluffs Ecosystem Improvement Project
The City has partnered with the Army Corps of Engineers to restore wetlands and upland areas at the Signature Bluffs Natural Area, in addition to construction of recreational boardwalks and soft-surface trails for public access. The trail sections and boardwalks were completed in early 2020, and work will continue on the restoration of the lands for the next few years.
