Planning and Zoning

Current Planning staff, through review of new development projects, ensure that the long range plans of the City are implemented and that new development adheres to the City´s codes and regulations. Every new project is different and City Planners work with developers, architects, engineers, attorneys, and neighborhood representatives to achieve a balanced integration between new development and the built environment.

Announcements

Updated Sign Code

On May 5, 2020, City Council adopted an amendment to Chapter 18.54 – Signs. The amendment includes removal of content-based sign definitions and language, grammatical edits, and changes to temporary sign allowances. Commercial regulations for permitted signs were not affected by this amendment.

Renovation at City Center North

Due to renovations of the first floor at City Center North (City Hall Annex or United Plaza), 1100 10th Street, visitors to Building Inspection, Fire, Code or EDR should check in at the third floor reception area.

Visitors to the City Attorney's office may proceed directly to the 4th floor.
