Anna Gimmestad Park Playground Refresh

The playground at Anna Gimmestad Park is being upgraded to better serve the needs of the surrounding neighborhood. The primary goal of this project is to build a new playground that fosters experience, growth, fun, and engagement for visitors.

The new playground has been designed and the equipment has been ordered. Below is a taste of what's to come to Anna Gimmestad Park. Swings, slides, climbing, shade, tunnels, and more. Be sure to check back here for updates in the coming months.

August 2022

The City of Greeley has begun the process of selecting a contractor to design and build the new playground at Anna Gimmestad. Ideas and input from the recent playground survey will help guide the contractor as they create a new and innovative space for all. Below are some examples of what we heard from residents.

Thank you to the Anna Gimmestad neighborhood and residents for completing our playground refresh survey. Over 125 of you shared your hopes for the future of Anna Gimmestad Park. So, now what? The survey results are being used to guide the design and creation of the new playground. Once complete, the design plans will be shared here. Be sure to check back in the coming weeks to see the new and innovative park.

What Work is Being Done and Where?

  • The existing playground equipment will be removed and replaced with newer, innovative, and more accessible play features;
  • More playground amenities will be added to fully utilize the existing playground footprint;
  • The playground safety surfacing will be replaced.

FAQ

Q: What is being done? Why?

A: The existing playground equipment and safety surfacing will be removed. New playground equipment will be installed in the existing footprint. The City of Greeley budgets for regular upgrades to aging amenities in our neighborhood parks. The upgrades planned for the playground at Anna Gimmestad Park will provide users with a more enjoyable park experience.

Q: Is the playground size shrinking or getting larger?

A: The new playground will be in the same location as the existing one and will have the same overall size. However, the playground will likely feel larger since more features will be added to fully utilized the existing footprint.

Q: Will the rest of the park stay open during construction?

A: Yes. Construction will be limited to the playground area. Other sidewalks and open space in the park will not be affected.

Q: How long is construction going to last?

A: Construction is planned to begin in late Fall of 2022.  Construction is expected to take 2-3 weeks, depending on the weather.

Q: Will there be any street closures?

A: No, closing nearby streets is not necessary for this project.
