“Aerials,” a two-person art installation created by Denver-based artists Barbara Baer and M.A. Guthrie, begins its run at the Tointon Gallery with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 1 at 651 10th Ave. Enjoy light refreshments and an artist talk while viewing the exhibit’s mobiles (kinetic work hung from the ceiling) and two-dimensional works.
The exhibit runs April 1-30 and is free and open to the public during normal Greeley Recreation Center business hours and Union Colony Civic Center performances for ticket-holding patrons.
Create Kinetic Art with Artist Barbara Baer
In conjunction with the exhibit, the gallery hosts its first free public workshop of the year, with artist Barbara Baer teaching the creative process and choice of materials involved in designing and creating moving sculptures.
The workshop takes place in REC 101C room of the Greeley Recreation Center. All ages are welcome and space is limited, so registration is required through the public art webpage at greeleygov.com/activities/public-art/tointon-gallery.
The Tointon Gallery features up to 12 different exhibits annually. As the only city-run gallery in Greeley, the facility provides visitors with opportunities to experience the visual arts and enjoy educational and thought-provoking discussions. By contributing to the city’s thriving arts community, the Tointon Gallery enhances the community and the quality of life of its residents.
