20th Street Expansion Work Open House Meeting
City officials want the input of those who live or drive in west Greeley to help finalize plans to expand 20th Street from 83rd to 90th avenues.
City staff will hold an open house meeting from 6:30-7:30 p.m. April 11, at the Greeley Family FunPlex, 1501 65th Ave.
In 2016, the Keep Greeley Moving Program expanded 20th Street, 74th to 83rd avenues, from a two-lane county road to a four-lane arterial roadway with medians and turn lanes.
This continuation of that project will widen 20th Street west of 83rd Avenue and add curbs, gutters, sidewalks, landscaping, and a drainage system. Additionally, this project includes the construction of a roundabout intersection at 20th Street and 83rd Avenue.
Expanding 20th Street will help ease traffic congestion near growing neighborhoods in west Greeley and increase safety for drivers and residents in the area.
Staff estimates a project of this size to take approximately five months starting in June. During that time, the expansion work will require lane closures and occasional full closures of 20th Street and detours.
Officials expect a two-month closure during initial construction of the roundabout at 20th Street and 83rd Avenue. Local, emergency and business access will remain open during all construction.
