20th Street Improvements Groundbreaking

The City of Greeley and the Public Works Department will be conducting a ground breaking ceremony for the 20th Street Improvements Project on Tuesday, May 17th.

The ceremony will begin at 1:00pm at the intersection of 74th Avenue and 20th Street.

With the support of City staff and a volunteer citizens’ committee, Keep Greeley Moving sales and use tax of 0.65% was passed in November of 2015. The passing of the Keep Greeley Moving initiative has allowed the City to fund this $5.6 million project. The 20th Street Improvements Project is the first major project to get started with the new money dedicated to improving the City’s road conditions.

The project will widen 20th Street to four lanes and add left and right turn lanes from 74th to 83rd Avenue, add lighting, detached sidewalks, curb and gutter, storm sewers, bike lanes, and raised center medians along the corridor. Vehicle sight distance will also be improved requiring extensive earthwork and relocation of underground utilities.
