In 2021, Greeley Public Works will expand, improve, and rebuild 35th Avenue between 4th and F streets as a part of Keep Greeley Moving.
Although construction is two years down the road, Greeley officials and the project designers want input, advice, and thoughts about the project from area residents and commuters.
The open house meeting runs 6:30-7:30 p.m., July 11, at Faith Bible Baptist Church, 320 35th Ave. At the meeting, Greeley officials and project designers will discuss the goals and scope of the project — which has reached the preliminary stage of design.
A two-lane rural road, 35th Avenue in north Greeley has limited right-turn lanes and no sidewalks or bike lanes. That stretch now serves Greeley as a regional corridor and the city has expanded and developed along both sides of north 35th Avenue. However, the significant northern gateway remains in poor condition. Many requests for sidewalks along that stretch of road have come to the city throughout the years.
This project will widen 35th Avenue from 4th to “F” Street and will add on-street bike lanes, curb, gutter, sidewalks, landscaped medians, and a traffic signal at “C” Street.
Keep Greeley Moving (KGM) — a voter-approved seven-year 0.65 percent sales tax — provides funding to improve and repair Greeley roads. The KGM program includes road expansion projects such as 35th Avenue. KGM also repairs and improves neighborhood roads, arterial and collector streets, and concrete and sidewalk infrastructure. The tax, and the KGM program, ends (sunsets) December 31, 2022.
