Application Deadline Draws Near for 2015 Student Exchange Trip
The application deadline for students interested in traveling to Moriya, Japan, as part of the City of Greeley’s 2015 Student Exchange Program, is Friday, January 16.
The City of Greeley is organizing a student delegation to visit our Sister City Moriya, Japan, this summer from June 2 until June 11, 2015. Students must currently be enrolled in grades 8 through 12 (minimum age of 14).
The out-of-pocket cost for the trip is anywhere from $2,500 to $3,000, dependent upon the cost of airfare. The city offers students who are residents a $1,000 stipend or scholarship to help offset the cost of the trip. The amount will be directly applied to each student’s airfare.
During their stay with host families in Moriya, Japan, students will not have expenses for room and board.
Even if a student feels that the trip is cost prohibitive, they should apply, says trip organizer Andrea Haring. Trip deposits aren’t due until March 8 and there are opportunities for businesses to sponsor students going on the trip.
Additional information and applications are available online. Visit greeleygov.com/moriya for details.
