City of Greeley and Xcel Energy Invite Business Community to Special Launch Event

The Greeley business community can join the City of Greeley and Xcel Energy in launching their Energy Action Plan at a special showcase and networking event Thursday.

This special showcase event takes place from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27, at WeldWerks Brewing, 508 8th Ave, Greeley. Please RSVP in advance at greeleyenergyexpo.eventbrite.com.

In 2019, The City of Greeley joined with Xcel Energy Partners in Energy to develop an Energy Action Plan for the Greeley community. This group, comprised of representatives from local businesses, schools, community organizations, and the City of Greeley, developed the plan to provide an affordable and reliable energy future for the community, focused on increasing efficiency.

The Energy Action Plan outlines steps to help achieve these goals:

  • Encourage 2,700 Greeley households to implement at least one energy efficiency or renewable energy measure annually.
  • Encourage 270 local businesses to participate in an energy efficiency or renewable energy program through Xcel Energy each year.
  • Connect with students to increase awareness of and engagement in energy efficiency and renewable energy opportunities.
  • Complete energy audits in targeted city facilities and implement at least one energy efficiency measure in each targeted facility.

City officials in partnership with the Energy Action Plan team will implement the plan throughout 2020 and 2021. Residents and businesses will have the opportunity to learn about energy efficiency opportunities, discounts, and rebates through community events, school activities, newsletters, social media posts, business expos, and presentations at local organizations.

Schools will have opportunities to engage students around energy efficiency and renewable energy, while receiving support to upgrade their own facilities through energy audits and financial assistance.

Finally, City of Greeley facilities are planning to participate in energy audits and building tune-ups to identify potential improvements, increase energy efficiency, and help save taxpayer money. This will be an opportunity to engage interested students and develop Greeley’s energy workforce.
