City of Greeley Asks for Volunteer Weed Warriors to Help Fight Invasive Weeds
Learn how to identify and manage invasive weeds and help take part in the stewardship of the community’s natural areas.
The City of Greeley’s Weed Warrior program will take volunteer applications through April 12. Experts will train volunteers and equip them to go out independently and help manage these harmful species.
Greeley’s Natural Areas & Trails (NAT) Division manages the city’s more-than-1,000 acres of designated natural areas.
The program asks volunteers to commit to at least an hour of volunteer time on a flexible schedule each week from May through September. During the program volunteers:
- Participate in a two-hour training on identifying and reporting invasive weeds
- Visit natural areas to identify and manage invasive species
- Report findings and record hours spent volunteering to the City of Greeley NAT Division
Applicants need to be able to provide their own transportation to and from natural areas and have a smartphone or tablet with internet access.
Anyone interested in applying can learn more online at www.greeleygov.com/activities/natural-areas/get-involved and apply by emailing Beth Ray, beth@voc.org, no later than April 12.
