City of Greeley Issues Local Disaster Declaration

Emergency vehicles responding to flooding in Greeley

GREELEY, Colo. — In response to the significant flooding that impacted Greeley earlier this week, Mayor Gates has signed a Local Disaster Declaration. This declaration has been filed and will go before City Council on June 4 to continue the disaster declaration by resolution. The full agenda for this council session can be found at https://greeleyco.portal.civicclerk.com

The severe weather event caused extensive flooding and large amounts of hail, leading to damage across downtown and east Greeley. In the wake of the storm, city staff have been working tirelessly to clean and clear city streets, assess damage, and provide necessary support to those impacted.

The Local Disaster Declaration is a crucial step in our response. It allows the City of Greeley to work interjurisdictionally in our recovery efforts and may activate eligibility for state and federal assistance programs.

Report Damage

As of May 30, 2024, our estimated total damages stand at over $1.45 million in the early stages of reporting. It is important to our efforts that businesses and individuals continue to report so the City of Greeley and Weld County can understand the full impact of the storm. Report damages to Weld County Government at https://report-co-weld.orioncentral.com. This form is not intended for insurance claims or immediate response. It is imperative for Weld County and the City of Greeley to gather accurate data on the extent of the damage incurred.
