City of Greeley Prepares for Significant Winter Storm
The National Weather Service forecasts a significant winter storm with heavy wet snow on track to impact Greeley this weekend. City officials will continue closely monitoring the situation with snow plow drivers ready to begin 24-hour-a-day operations when the storm begins.
Greeley plows streets based on a priority system with key, major roads connecting hospitals, police, and fire stations plowed first. If Greeley receives the heavy amount of snow predicted in the forecast then plow drivers will work their way into the neighborhood and residential roads after clearing the higher priority roads.
City crews will focus primarily on clearing Greeley streets. Any snow on sidewalks and walkways as a result of snow plowing will get address as quickly as possible.

City officials recommend residents prepare for the storm by parking off of the street if able. Additionally, officials ask residents to check gutters along their street to ensure they are clear of any debris or snow build up that might make it difficult for melting snow to drain quickly.
Because of the adverse weather, the free community COVID-19 testing site on the University of Northern Colorado campus in the Bishop Lehr Building at 11th Avenue and 20th Street will close Saturday and Sunday.
Should the winter storm require closures or changes to any City of Greely facilities or services, those closures or changes will get announced on city websites and social media channels.
