GREELEY, Colo. — The City of Greeley is requesting community input on two projects related to transportation in the community, one focused on the future of Greeley’s entire mobility system and one focused on improving road safety across the city.
“Greeley on the Go” Mobility Development Plan
The City of Greeley is developing a safe and efficient mobility system that can support everyone in the city, whether they walk, take transit, ride or drive. From now through June 28, the city is asking residents to drop pins on a mobility map showing where the city needs improvements and where individuals have experienced challenges with mobility. All feedback is welcome and may range from suggestions about Greeley-Evans Transit (GET) routes to areas where sidewalks need to be added.
The city will use this feedback to create different potential mobility scenarios for the future, which will be shared to the public for additional feedback at the end of summer 2024.
The “Vision Zero” Safety Action Plan
The City of Greeley is also developing a “Vision Zero” action plan to make streets safer. “Vision Zero” began in Sweden in the 1990s to improve traffic safety with the goal of eliminating all fatal and serious injury traffic crashes. The method has now been endorsed by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Residents are encouraged to take the Vision Zero online survey (available in English and Spanish) to share their first-hand experiences with walking, biking and driving across Greeley. The survey results will be used to help identify where severe crashes prevail in order to recommend and prioritize effective countermeasures to address problem areas.
More information about both projects, as well as other major initiatives in the city, can be found on SpeakUpGreeley.com.
