Expect Periodic Lane Closure as Tree Work Takes Place on 8th Avenue

City-Logo-for-News-Releases

Drivers on 8th Avenue may experience some delays between 17th and 22nd streets as lanes periodically close Nov. 8-10 while crews trim and remove trees along the corridor.

This routine and necessary tree maintenance improves the structural integrity of the trees, minimizes damage from snow and windstorms, raises low-hanging limbs over the roadway, and maximizes the long-term benefits trees provide the community.

“Depending on the condition and age of a tree, we might need to remove it to maintain public safety,” said Shiloh Hatcher, the City of Greeley’s forestry manager. “Whenever we see trees reach the end of their lives, we encourage property owners to plant new trees to continue the ongoing benefits of trees as they provide shade, increase property values, improve aesthetic beauty and contribute to a sense of community.”

Multiple licensed tree contractors will work on this project to reduce the time and impact on traffic.

Anyone with questions or concerns about the project can contact forestry staff at 970-351-5150 or shiloh.hatcher@greeleygov.com from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
