Expect Street Closures as Tree Work Takes Place in Downtown Plazas
For crews to trim and work on the trees in the downtown plazas, 8th and 9th streets between 9th and 8th avenues will temporarily close May 9—however pedestrian access will remain for all businesses during the work that day.
This routine and necessary tree maintenance:
- Improves the structural integrity of the trees
- Minimizes damage from snow and windstorms
- Raises low-hanging limbs over the streets and sidewalks
- Maximizes the long-term benefits trees provide the community
“We have identified several trees that need routine maintenance in the downtown plazas,” said Shiloh Hatcher, City of Greeley’s forestry manager. “In order to minimize impact to businesses located directly on 8th and 9th streets, we will be providing controlled, safe pedestrian access to all businesses in the downtown plazas during the work process.”
Anyone with questions or concerns about the project can contact forestry staff at 970-351-5150 or shiloh.hatcher@greeleygov.com from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
