Flobots Deliver Hip Hop Music with a Mission to Greeley’s Union Colony Civic Center

Flobots

Flobots, a Denver-based alternative hip-hop group, bring their mission-minded music to Greeley’s Union Colony Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30. Best known for hits like “Handlebars,” “Rise,” and “White Flag Warrior,” their performances entertain and activate audiences through songs and lyrics discussing race, equality, democracy, and social justice.

More than Music
Since launching 15 years ago, Flobots rocketed to popularity with the breakout hit “Handlebars,” which became a platinum-selling single and garnered the band their record deal with Republic Records. Known for their powerhouse sound and lyrical landscapes, the group solidified their standing as community activists by founding Youth on Record in 2008. This organization creates music-centered programs for historically under-resourced communities, using art as an educational tool and equipping young people with skills and knowledge to advance their education and future opportunities. Meet the Band
MCs Jonny 5 (born Jamie Laurie) and Brer Rabbit (born Stephen Brackett) bonded in fourth grade through their common interest in comic books and hip-hop. They later met Andy Rok, guitarist and vocalist, in high school and Kenny O, drummer, during their college years, forming the band’s core group as it stands today. Adding to Flobots’ trademark sound are Spirit of Grace members and sisters Larea Edwards and Chrissy Grant; Sarah Hubbard, violinist and violist; and Sean Blanchard, bassist.

The Union Colony Civic Center staff and officials are deeply grateful to the 2021 sponsors who help the shows go on. The 2021 Fall Semester Sponsors include:
