Grand Funk Railroad’s “The American Band” Tour Arrives at Greeley’s Union Colony Civic Center

Grand Funk Railroad’s national tour arrives at Greeley’s Union Colony Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13 at 701 10th Ave. The five-piece group delivers a live performance with their signature hard-driving sound, soulful vocals, and muscular instrumentation.

One of the top-selling American rock groups of the 70s, Grand Funk Railroad’s well-known hits include “Some Kind of Wonderful,” “Locomotion,” and “We’re an American Band.” Their unique sound laid the groundwork for groups like Foreigner, Journey, Van Halen, and Bon Jovi.

Meet the Band

  • Don Brewer – (vocals/drums) original founding member and the writer and singer of multi-million selling hit, “We’re an American Band.”

  • Mel Schacher (bassist) – original founding member, also known as “The God of Thunder.”

  • Max Carl (vocals) rock veteran from 38 Special, who penned and sang 38’s highest-charting hit, “Second Chance.” Co-founder of California’s legendary Jack Mack and the Heart Attack.

  • Bruce Kulick (lead guitarist) – best known for his 12 years with KISS. Additional credits with Michael Bolton, Meatloaf, and Billy Squier.

  • Tim Cashion (keyboardist) has a master’s degree in music from the University of Miami. Credits include stints with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and Robert Palmer.
