Greeley-Evans Transit Increases Services and Modifies Practices for COVID-19 Safety

Starting Monday, Aug. 17, Greeley-Evans Transit (GET) buses will run more frequently for extended hours. However, safety precautions to slow the spread of COVID-19 prevent GET from operating at normal service levels and limit the capacity of buses.

Riders should expect varying delays as demand increases.

With the increased demand for public transportation as school starts this month, GET will extend its service times to:

  • Special Monday through Friday hours of 5:55 a.m. – 7:15 p.m.
  • Normal Saturday operating hours: 6:50 a.m. – 6:15 p.m.
  • Normal Sunday operation consisting of only Call-N-Ride services from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Monday through Saturday, after scheduled buses stop, call and rides services will operate from 6:35 to 9 p.m.

Bus service on Route 1 will increase frequency and buses will come every 30 minutes. For an updated bus schedule, visit www.greeleyevanstransit.com or call 970-350-9290.

For the protection of GET drivers and passengers GET officials will restrict all buses to half capacity. Additionally, all riders must wear a mask and follow all other state executive orders to slow the spread of COVID-19 and ensure they maintain social distancing.

To mitigate the effects of reduced bus capacity, GET will provide additional buses during peak times. However, due to reduced capacity and limited resources, at times passengers will have to wait until additional buses get dispatched and arrive or until the next scheduled bus. Officials understand the inconvenience this may cause and apologize in advance.

Starting Aug. 24, GET will resume limited operation of the Poudre Express commuter route — connecting Greeley, Windsor, and Fort Collins — and the University Of Northern Colorado Boomerang Route. Students from UNC and Colorado State University can ride for free with a current student ID.

Based on ridership data from this last winter and feedback from riders and the recent GET survey, the Poudre Express will operate six trips a day, Monday through Friday. Riders will be able view the new schedule online at www.greeleyevanstransit.com or call 970-350-9290.

The UNC Boomerang Route will operate two buses Monday through Friday. The buses will start at Gunther Hall and Michener Library at 7:42 a.m., with departures every 10 minutes until the final trip of the day at 2:52 p.m.
